Join us for a day trip to Santa Barbara where we will visit top brands, get amazing appointments with the winemakers - taste, eat, relax and enjoy while being accompanied by wine expert Ian Blackburn who will entertain and guide this day trip to one of California’s most exciting wine regions. A Luxury 55 passenger bus will be used to transport 20-30 of us. This promises to be comfortable and relaxed experience.

ABOUT RIDEAU VINEYARD
Planted exclusively to Rhône varietals, our vineyard is a unique blend of two terroirs: our lower vineyard was once the home of an ancient river bed and floodplain, our upper vineyard was once the river bank. Originally planted to five blocks in 1997 and expanded to a sixth block in 2017, each clone is planted and farmed in the location and soil that best suits it. Its deep, well-drained soil, combined with the coastal weather influences of the nearby Pacific Ocean, lead to the delicately balanced flavor profile of distinct minerality, baking spices, and earthiness that we covet in our estate wines.

Biodynamics is a method of farming that emphasizes the farm as a whole system. It is a holistic approach that views the connection between the farmer, soil, plants, animals, and cosmos as a whole system.
Based on a series of lectures given in 1924 by Austrian philosopher/scientist Rudolf Steiner, Biodynamics places an emphasis on composting and the use of a series of preparations made with natural ingredients. These preparations are used in a prescribed manner in compost, soil, and plants based upon the lunar and celestial movements to form the basis of the Biodynamic farming system.

The Beckmen family established their Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley in 1994.
After years as leaders and pioneers in the electronic music business, Tom and Judy Beckmen, joined by their youngest son Steve, set out to make wines as well-crafted and distinctive as the keyboards and synthesizers that built their successful careers as founders of Roland Corp, US. Their search for a promising vineyard ended in 1994 when they discovered a 40 acre winery near the picturesque town of Los Olivos, CA. It was here, in the heart of the blossoming Santa Ynez Valley wine region, that the family laid down their roots and established Beckmen Vineyards.
The Beckmens’ commitment to building a world class estate vineyard led them to purchase an unplanted 365 acre ranch in nearby Ballard Canyon. Named after the ranch to which it once belonged, Purisima Mountain Vineyard was established in 1996. Beckmen Vineyards’ wines are composed exclusively from the 150 acres of grapevine grown on these two vineyards, crafted with care in the original Los Olivos winery.

This dessert is in memory of Dave Robinson, the late husband of Karen Steinwachs, winemaker of Buttonwood Winery. Our annual Santa Barbara Wine on the 101 Day Trips traditionally began with lunch by the pond on top of the hill surrounded by the gorgeous Buttonwood vineyards, where we'd find Dave grilling up a Santa Maria style bbq on a custom quarter cut-out buoy used as grill, while Karen and visiting winemakers poured and spoke to guests about their wines. Dave always finished the meal with his special Roasted Peaches. I hope you'll enjoy~
